These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of AmongFolk, a private group photo and update sharing service operated by CORDAGE & CO LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number as registered). By creating an account or using AmongFolk, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use AmongFolk.
AmongFolk provides private, invitation-only group spaces for families and friends to share photos, videos, voice notes, text updates, events, albums, and recommendations. The service is designed for private groups only. There are no public profiles, discovery features, or public content.
Age requirements: You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. You must be 18 or older to create a group, manage billing, or act as a group owner.
Account security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@amongfolk.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
One account per person: You may only create and maintain one account. Multiple accounts for the same person are prohibited.
Accurate information: You must provide accurate, current information when creating your account and keep it up to date.
By using AmongFolk, you agree to follow our Community Guidelines & Child Safety Standards. You must not:
Consent for photographs: You are responsible for obtaining all necessary consents from individuals who appear in photos or videos you share, particularly children. By posting content, you confirm you have the right to share it.
Ownership: You retain all ownership rights to content you post to AmongFolk. We do not claim ownership of your photos, videos, voice notes, or other content.
Licence to us: By posting content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, and transmit your content solely to operate and provide the service to you and your group members. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except that content may remain in backups for up to 30 days.
Group sharing: When you share content in a group, all current and future members of that group can view it until you delete it. If you share an event with multiple groups, members of each accepted group can view the event details you choose to share.
Responsibility: You are solely responsible for your content. We are not liable for any content posted by users.
Our intellectual property: The AmongFolk service, including its design, features, and underlying technology, is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on our service.
We process your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. By using AmongFolk, you consent to such processing and warrant that all data you provide is accurate.
Group owner responsibility: Group owners are responsible for ensuring that everyone in the group consents to photos of children being shared within that group.
Detection and reporting: We employ technical measures, including PhotoDNA and other hash-matching technologies, to detect child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Detected violations are immediately reported to NCMEC, the NCA, and relevant law enforcement agencies.
Limited content access: We do not routinely access the content within your private groups. Access occurs only when technically necessary for service operation, to investigate abuse reports, or to comply with legal obligations.
Reporting: You can report any concerning content or behaviour from within the app or by emailing safety@amongfolk.com for urgent child safety concerns. We review every report promptly.
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour, particularly content that harms or exploits children. You can report any post, reply, photo or person from its menu in the app, or email safety@amongfolk.com for urgent child safety concerns. We review every report immediately. Serious violations, including any child exploitation content, result in immediate account suspension, permanent ban, and reporting to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and law enforcement. For other violations, we may remove content, remove someone from a group, or suspend or close an account without prior notice. You can also block another person in the group at any time, which hides their posts, replies, photos and reactions from you and stops them notifying you.
We reserve the right to:
For serious violations, including any child exploitation content, we will immediately suspend your account, permanently ban you, and report you to relevant authorities. For other violations, we may act without prior notice or warning.
Blocking: You can block any user at any time. Blocked users' content will be hidden from you, and they will not be able to notify you.
Plans: Groups can start on Free, which covers up to eight people, notes, replies, reactions, 500 MB of shared photos and video, one-off events with RSVPs and reminders, and the weekly digest. Plus covers one group and adds voice notes, date polls, recurring plans, rotating hosts, event sharing between groups, spot limits with waitlists, albums, recipes and traditions, film, series, book, record and place recommendations, room for 100 people, and 50 GB. Together is the same paid features for up to five groups the payer belongs to, with room for up to 250 people per group. Unused slots can be filled any time, and moving coverage waits until the billing period ends. One subscription covers everyone in each covered group. Current prices are shown in the app. If you cancel, everything already shared stays visible, and new voice notes, premium event planning, albums and recommendations stop. Existing events remain usable, and recurring plans pause creating new occurrences until the group is covered again. Buying a subscription in the App Store or on Google Play during a free trial starts billing immediately.
Pricing and payment: Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually as selected. Payments are processed through Apple's App Store, Google Play, or Stripe for web purchases.
Free trials: If you start a subscription through Apple's App Store or Google Play during a free trial, billing begins immediately.
Automatic renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date. For Apple subscriptions, cancel at least 24 hours before renewal. For Google Play, cancel before the renewal date through your Google Play account.
Cancellation: You may cancel at any time. If you cancel, paid features (voice notes, premium event planning, albums, recommendations) will no longer be available for new posts, but everything already shared remains visible.
Refunds: Refunds are handled according to the policies of Apple, Google, or Stripe. We do not control refund decisions made by these payment processors.
Price changes: We may change subscription prices at any time. Changes will not affect your current billing period. We will notify you before your next renewal if the price has changed.
Your group's photos, video and voice notes stay stored, viewable and downloadable for 12 months after a paid subscription or a free trial ends. After that period they may be permanently deleted, and deletion cannot be undone.
Three things limit this, and they matter:
You can export your data at any time during the 12 months, including after the subscription has ended.
Data export: You can export all your data (posts, photos, replies) from account settings at any time.
Content deletion: You can delete your own posts and replies at any time. Group owners can delete any content in their groups.
Account deletion: You can delete your account from the app's account settings or from our delete-account page. When you delete your account:
Group deletion: Group owners can delete entire groups and all content within them. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
No uptime guarantee: We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access to AmongFolk. The service may be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or technical issues.
Changes to the service: We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes or discontinuation.
Changes to these Terms: We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
AmongFolk integrates with third-party services for specific features:
Place searches: When you add a place to a moment, get-together or recommendation, you can allow location access so nearby matches appear first. We send your search text and current coordinates through our API to Google Places for this lookup. You can decline or withdraw location access in your device or browser settings and still search or write a place name. Device location is not tracked in the background or automatically attached to what you share. Only the place you choose is shared with your group. These services operate under their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services or their actions.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, AMONGFOLK IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that defects will be corrected. You use the service at your own risk.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CORDAGE & CO LTD, ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF AMONGFOLK.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF AMONGFOLK SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR £100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CORDAGE & CO LTD, its directors, officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of:
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of AmongFolk shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may bring proceedings in your local courts, and these Terms will be governed by the law of that jurisdiction.
If you have a complaint or dispute, please contact us first at hello@amongfolk.com. We will work with you to resolve the issue.
If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, you may have the right to refer the matter to alternative dispute resolution or to bring proceedings in court.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines, constitute the entire agreement between you and CORDAGE & CO LTD regarding AmongFolk.
